Exhibition Details:

Chalo Una is an intimate look at the remains of a protest. In August 2016, one of the largest dalit anti caste protest rally in recent history was organised. The 10 days rally marched from Ahmedabad to Una in solidarity with four people being flogged in Una. This exhibition is an invitation to the audience to be with the protest rally.

ujjwal kanishka utkarsh, a Phd-in-Practice candidate at the Academy of Fine Arts, Vienna, is the Principal Investigator of the FWF PEEK funded project 'Commemorating a Revolution yet to come' also hosted at the Academy of Fine Arts, Vienna. For over 15 years he has worked towards developing a cinematic form which emerges of the observational cinema tradition. For ujjwal, this implies working towards a political form which is eXperiential-sensorial and spiritual in nature. In his more recent works he has been working with the challenge of looking at direct social and political activity through such an approach. He often works collaboratively with other artists, and art forms including but not limited to theater, dance, photography. In and through his research project, he is tries to eXpand his cinematic practice with and through some of these other forms.
