Exhibition Details:
Adeportation in Vienna in the middle of the night. Police officer Nancy and her colleague Albert have the task of evicting a family. Together with a police unit, they ambush an Albanian family without a valid residence permit. The situation escalates. The pubescent son becomes rebellious, the father suffers a nervous breakdown. When the mother of the family throws herself from the second floor, Nancy takes care of the 8-year-old girl, who did not notice the incident in her cellar hiding place. The events of the night leave everyone involved traumatized.

Mark Gerstorfer studierte Fotografie an der Akademie der Bildenden Künste Wien, bevor er sein Regie-Studium an der Filmakademie Wien bei Michael Haneke aufnahm. Er erhielt das START- Stipendium des Bundeskanzleramts sowie das Jahresstipendium des Landes Salzburg. Es schloss sein Regiestudium an der Wiener Filmakademie in der Meisterklasse bei Prof. Michael Haneke für Regie mit Auszeichnung ab. Sein Film die unsichtbare Grenze gewann internationale Preise wie unter anderem den "Student Academy Award" in „GOLD“ und Gerstorfer ist somit der erste österreichische Staatsbürger, welcher diesen Preis erhielt. Der Film war auf der Oscar Shortlist 2024 für Kurzfilm und gewann in der Kategorie „Bester Kurzfilm“ den Österreichischen Filmpreis. Zudem unterrichtet er seit 2022 an der Filmschule Wien.
Mark Gerstorfer studied photography at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna before studying directing at the Vienna Film Academy under Michael Haneke. He received the START scholarship from the Federal Chancellery and the annual scholarship from the province of Salzburg. He completed his directing studies at the Vienna Film Academy in Prof. Michael Haneke's master class for directing with distinction.His film Invisible Border won international prizes such as the “Student Academy Award” in “GOLD”, making Gerstorfer the first Austrian citizen to receive this award. The film was on the 2024 Oscar shortlist for short film and won the Austrian Film Award in the “Best Short Film” category.He has also been teaching at the Vienna Film School since 2022.
