Artificial intelligence is transforming our world—faster, more extensively, and more profoundly than many ever thought possible. But at what cost?
As artificial intelligence becomes increasingly integrated into our everyday lives, the question arises: how responsible is the use of such technologies?
While AI is celebrated as an innovation, its massive consumption of energy and resources is coming under growing scrutiny. The exhibition addresses the hidden energy and resource consumption of digital technologies, their impact on individuals and society, and the seemingly uncritical acceptance of ever-accelerating technological development.
Despite concerns about its ecological impact, AI is widely regarded as a source of hope for solving many social problems. This also raises questions about who is behind these promises, what motivates them, and when they might actually be fulfilled.
Can we celebrate technology as a solution when it is itself part of the problem?
Or have we always done so?
The works were developed using data on electricity consumption, electronic waste, and emissions generated by AI models. Some are produced using AI systems, but always with an emphasis on self-reflection and transparency about their ecological footprint.
The exhibition invites us to reconsider our relationship to technology, progress, and responsibility, and to make these ecological, social, and ethical questions visible and tangible from an artistic perspective.

Featuring:
June Kitho works at the intersection of biology and art, frequently engaging with themes such as preservation, transience, and decay. She experiments with a range of materials, though she most often makes her sculptures from ceramics and wool. These two materials stand in stark contrast and reflect an inner conflict. Her work also confronts patriarchal norms.
Oliver R. Meschnig was born in Villach in 1981 and lives and works in Vienna. In the late phase of his studies, he specialized in intercultural philosophy and art philosophy, which not only marked the starting point of his artistic work, but also represents a central theme in his works. These are characterized above all by contrasts, both thematic and material. After starting to work as an artist in 2019, he held several exhibitions in Germany and abroad, including in Berlin, Madrid, New York, Prague and Vienna.
